Self-publishing and return on investment

Readers here might know that I make most of my living these days as a freelance editor, and that I’ve recently been doing a lot of work for self-publishing authors.

One of my clients asked me how he’s going to make his money back, in about as straightforward a way as you ever could, so last week I did what novelists do and wrote him a 4,500-word letter.
