The ordinary is hard to lust after

A discovery in my notes for Seize the Girl:

Why are films and romances so full of beautiful, talented, rich, and enviable people? Because these people are easier to desire and to love. The ordinary is not so exciting and enticing, not so easy to forgive its faults and failures (because there is so little to counterbalance it) and sometimes, not easy to lust after, either.
